Tommy Quick
Born in Houston, Texas, February 15, 1948.
Musical influence - deep rooted Funk/Soul/Blues Rock/Texas Boogie/ R&B/ Classic Rock/Heavy Metal/Blues & Country……… In that order.
Began playing music at age 15 when introduced to the Guitar by an older brother also played Drums on his first Gig with “The Chevelles” in 1963.
After a Trip to Vietnam with the US Army in 1968 Tommy was extremely influenced by the Music of that era and began the quest of mastering the Rock Guitar. Upon his return home He visited Houston’s club scene including Love Street Light Circus and the Cellar Club enjoying the sounds from many different Bands. With a young wife and small children he managed to work construction as a Bricklayer in the Petrochemical & Steel Industry all the while still playing his guitar with local acts “The Plague”, “Bootleg” and “Illegal”. Tommy played his hand at the Home Recording Studio and Produced several local acts and one National. His love for playing overcame his desire to record other people and the guitar wins again.
1986 was a turning point in Tommy’s life. He felt the call. It was time to pay up on several promises that He had made to God in dire times of need and turned over his life for God to use. By divine intervention he began playing in a Christian Rhythm & Blues Band named “Forgiven” in Homeless Shelters, The Texas Prison System and local Coffee Shops & Churches. After influencing some friends of a band named “One Spirit” to go to a Prison to perform. Tommy was asked to join up with “One Spirit” and the rest is History.
